Azure Load Balancer Sensor

The sensor monitors Azure Load Balancer resource, using Azure Monitor metrics.

Azure Load Balancer Sensor helps track health probe status per time duration, which is very important in case of scaling error. It also helps verify if a number of SNAT ports is set properly or whether the data path is available.

Options

This sensor requires credentials for Azure subscription (Application (Client) ID, Tenant ID, and Client Secret Value).

Alerts

  • Bytes Transmitted < 1MB
  • Packets Transmitted < 1000

Performance Metrics

  • Diagnostic\Allocated SNAT Ports - Total number of SNAT ports allocated within the time period
  • Diagnostic\SNAT Connections Created - Total number of new SNAT connections created within the time period
  • Diagnostic\SYN Packets Transmitted - Total number of SYN Packets transmitted within a time period
  • Diagnostic\Used SNAT Ports - Total number of SNAT ports used within a time period. SNAT enables IP masquerading of the backend instance. This masquerading prevents outside sources from having a direct address to the backend instances.
  • Diagnostic\Bytes Transmitted - Total number of Bytes transmitted within a time period
  • Diagnostic\Packets Transmitted - Total number of Packets transmitted within a time period
  • Health\Dynamic IP Addresses Available - Standard Load Balancer uses a distributed health-probing service that monitors your application endpoint's health according to your configuration settings. This metric provides an aggregate or per-endpoint filtered view of each instance endpoint in the load balancer pool. You can see how Load Balancer views the health of your application, as indicated by your health probe configuration.
