Devices with Multiple Network Interfaces
Monitor multi-interface devices with granular control and flexible grouping options
In NetCrunch, each IP Node represents a single network interface, not the whole device. This design enables granular monitoring, as each interface may run different services and require distinct monitoring profiles.
To simplify the view and reduce data collection on less critical interfaces, NetCrunch allows you to group multiple interfaces under one primary node:
- Primary Interface: Fully monitored with performance data collected
- Secondary Interfaces: Placed into Simplified Monitoring, checking only the up/down status without storing performance metrics
Grouping Interfaces
There are several ways to combine multiple interfaces into a single logical device:
- Select multiple nodes and use Represent nodes as one device
- Open the Primary Interface properties and add Secondary Interfaces
- Open a Secondary Interface and select its corresponding Primary Interface
This approach keeps monitoring efficient and organized, especially for servers or infrastructure devices with multiple NICs.
