NetApp ONTAP Sensor

This sensor allows monitoring of the health and performance of NetApp storage components using ONTAP REST API.

ONTAP data management software offers unified storage for applications that read and write data over file-access protocols. ONTAP implementations run on NetApp-engineered FAS or AFF appliances, on commodity hardware (ONTAP Select). The sensor checks the current status of Storage components, Volumes, LUNs, Disks, Interfaces, Nodes, and Ports. The sensor alarms in case of degradation of any of the components. The sensor also collects metrics for IOPS, Throughput, Latency, and storage capacity.

Requirements

The monitored device must be NetApp storage with ONTAP version 9.6 or later.

Options

ONTAP REST API is using HTTP basic authentication. You need to pass your username and password.

Alerts

By default, the sensor alerts when any of:

  • Disk is broken
  • LUN status is other than Online
  • LUN free space is low
  • Volume has a problem - the volume has any inconsistencies or bad blocks, or its status is other than online
  • Volume free space is low
  • Interface is Down
  • Controller node is in error state

Depending on your needs, you may also define alerts on Ethernet ports, Fibre Channel ports, storage ports, and storage shelves.

Reports (Data Collectors)

By default, the sensor adds reports containing metrics for Cluster (IOPS, Throughput, Latency), Bytes transmitted over storage interfaces, LUNs and Volumes used space, and more.
